Quirkiest Cafe in Seoul South Korea
The rumors are pretty true that Japan and Korea have some fun quirky cafes. This cafe is called Meerkat Friends. This is one place that you can cuddle up with some meerkats and some other furry friends. The meerkat cafe is located in Hongdae and costs about 10,000 Won which is about $10 USD. You get to spend 15-20 mins depending on how long one of the workers lets you. We got to spend 20 minutes with them, but after you can see kangaroos, an anteater, foxes, cats, raccoons, some other animals I have no idea what they were.
When you decide to walk around this area, its a pretty hip area and filled with Americanized stuff and its next to the University.
What to expect at the Meerkat Cafe?
Once you open the door, you are asked to place your belongings in the lockers and empty all of your pockets, because meerkats love to be cheeky. You also need to take off your shoes and wear slippers that they give you during your stay at the cafe.
They do have drinks that you can choose, but we didn't drink anything.
I thought this cafe would have actual coffee or something, but it was just soda. I was kind of disappointed in it saying its a cafe, but it's not. At least you will get to play with the animals.
My last thoughts about this place?
I think that the price is awesome for what it is. One thing you should know is that once you step foot inside, it does smell funky. I've been to other animal cafes in Japan and they didn't smell at all. This one smells quite gross, just a heads up, but if you want to play with them just get used to it and go play!
It's an awesome place where adults can be kids again, which is awesome. I didn't see a lot of children, which is very good, I don't want to be in a place with loads of kids, I think there were 5-9 adults I saw when I was there. I went right when it opened so I don't know if it gets busy later on, but I would suggest getting there when it opens at 1230pm.
